Bobby Vinton
Bobby Vinton, born on May 2, 1977, emerged as the sixth child in the Vinton family, and his early years took an unexpected turn when, at three months old, a brain tumor was discovered. Surgery to remove his right eye followed, revealing a rare genetic disease, possibly leaving him blind from birth due to retinal blastoma. Despite the grim prognosis, Bobby defied the odds, growing into a highly functioning adult.
Puberty brought severe junior osteoporosis, rendering him wheelchair-bound for two years due to brittle bones. Countless surgeries followed, marking a challenging period from age twelve to fifteen. At twenty-five, Bobby faced another surgery, losing his left eye due to atrophy.
Today, Bobby’s remarkable journey has taken a transformative turn thanks to Sophia’s Mission and NEWHD Media. Intrigued by sound and music as a refuge during tough times, Bobby’s love for radio flourished. Meeting Zach Martin, the founder of Sophia’s Mission, opened the door to a new world – Bobby could be a DJ.
From solitary moments listening to vinyl records to becoming a DJ, Bobby’s life has found profound purpose. Sophia’s Mission and NEWHD Media have become his window to a bright future, replacing the days spent sitting alone, rocking back and forth.
