Join OAR to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month with the seventh annual Active for Autism 5K and Kids Dash this April! This fitness and fundraising event spreads autism awareness and acceptance in our communities and raises money for OAR’s Changing Lives Fund, which directly supports research and programs. Your registration fee and money raised will directly fund new OAR research studies beginning in January 2026.
Participate In-Person
The in-person Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash takes place in Alexandria, Virginia, on Sunday, April 13. The 5K starts at 8:00 a.m., with awards and the Kids Dash to follow around 9:00 a.m. This family-friendly event features a fast, flat, spectator-friendly, out-and-back course, and post-race celebration.
Or Virtually
If you can’t make it in person, participate virtually. Take on the Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash your way between April 1 and 12. You can run, walk, cycle, or swim anytime, anywhere. Take on a 5K right outside your front door, stay inside on a treadmill, or find somewhere new to explore. Kids 12 and under are also welcome to participate in the Kids Dash by completing a virtual race of any distance suitable for them.
Join Us to Raise Our Goal of $60,000
All Active for Autism 5K participants will receive an OAR medal, race t-shirt, and race bib. They are also eligible for fundraising prizes. All Kids Dash participants will receive a race bib and finisher’s ribbon. You can register here.
Last year, the 2024 Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash attracted over 400 runners from 27 states, combining forces to raise more than $60,000. This year, we aim to raise over $60,000 again, enough to fund a new OAR research study and support OAR’s mission of applying research to the challenges of autism. Through your support of the Active for Autism 5K & Kids Dash, you are directly supporting OAR’s ultimate objective: to change lives.
