Poetry: Aged Out

By Hamy Downs

Aged out, of a cage
Aged out, in a rage
Aged out, turn the page

Aged out, Aged out, Aged out

Aged out, on the street
Aged out, in the heat
Aged out, incomplete

Aged out, Aged out, Aged out

Aged out, feeling so meek
Aged out, unable to speak
Aged out, labeled a freak

Aged out, Aged out, Aged out

Aged out, with nowhere to go
Aged out, with nothing to show
Aged out, with no way to know

Aged out, Aged out, Aged out

Aged out, in a world that feels so wrong
Aged out, to a life too short on long
Aged out, singing that same ol song.

Aged out, Aged out, Aged out

Aged out, will never fit in
Aged out, unlikely to win
Aged out, a fine line worn, so paper thin

Aged out, Aged out, Aged out

Aged out, and it feels so unfair
Aged out, to no-one there to really care
Aged out, with not and far too aware

Aged out, Aged out, Aged out

Aging out, of a life near too long
Aging out, from that same ol song
Aging out, and it still feels wrong

Aging out, Aging out, Aging out, Again

Aging out, having never fit in
Aging out, still, hoping to win
Aging out, is wearing too thin

Aging out, Aging out, Aging out
Again
